SAD NEWS: Bruins nation announce the departure of six players…

In the past, the Boston Bruins have not failed to qualify for the postseason since the 2015–16 season; however, they have been struggling in the 2024–25 season, and it is possible that they will find themselves on the outside looking in by the time the season is over.

There are only a few weeks left until the deadline for trades in the National Hockey League, and the Boston Bruins, who typically try to improve their squad around this time of year, might be thinking of going in a different way.

General manager Don Sweeney admitted the possibility that the organization could attempt to build for the future at this year’s deadline. The team currently has a record of 27-24-7, is coming off of a humiliating home loss to the Anaheim Ducks, and has a squad that does not appear to be geared toward making a run at a Stanley Cup.

Sweeney stated to the media on Sunday that the team would investigate “all opportunities,” which may include maintaining a “eye toward the future,” as reported by Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe.

A number of the team’s most important players, notably those on defense, have sustained injuries, and it is anticipated that Hampus Lindholm will be out for the duration of the season. Due to the fact that Charlie McAvoy sustained an injury during the 4 Nations Face-Off, there is currently no set schedule for his return into action.

over Brad Marchand, the team’s captain, who is currently in the final year of his contract, Sweeney stated that the organization “remains in conversation” over the possibility of extending Marchand’s contract. Marchand is 36 years old.

Considering that Boston is currently in sixth place in the Atlantic Division and tenth place in the Eastern Conference, the team may decide to sell at the deadline in the hopes of getting back into the running for the Stanley Cup in a more expedient manner.
