In a heartfelt and impactful move off the court, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has invested $7.5 million of his personal funds to transform one of his properties into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth in Boston.
The initiative, announced Thursday morning, is being hailed as a major step in addressing youth homelessness in the city. The shelter will provide not only safe housing, but also access to counseling, education support, and career development programs. Tatum, known for his charitable efforts and commitment to community upliftment, said the project is “deeply personal” and “a way to give back to a city that’s given me so much.”
“I want this to be a place where kids feel safe, supported, and seen,” Tatum said in a statement. “Everyone deserves a shot at a better future, and sometimes that starts with simply having a place to call home.”
The shelter, set to open in early 2026, will accommodate up to 50 youth and will be run in partnership with local non-profit organizations.
