In a remarkable act of generosity, Collingwood Football Club superstar Nick Daicos has committed $6.5 million of his personal funds to convert a historic Melbourne property into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth. The initiative, revealed today, aims to provide safe housing, mental health support, and career pathways for vulnerable young Australians.

The shelter, set to open in early 2026, will be named Daicos House, and will offer not only accommodation but also access to counseling, education programs, and recreational facilities. In a statement, Daicos said, “I’ve been incredibly fortunate in my career and life, and I believe it’s my responsibility to give back to those who haven’t had the same opportunities.”

Community leaders and AFL fans have praised the 24-year-old for his compassion and leadership off the field, with some calling it one of the most significant philanthropic gestures ever made by an Australian athlete.
