This January, Brighton will welcome Paraguay midfielder Diego Gomez to the Amex Stadium amid rumors of another move for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Get all the most recent transfer news and rumors from Brighton & Hove Albion and the Premier League.
Last summer, Brighton attempted to pay Leicester £25 million to recruit Dewsbury-Hall, but the midfield player chose Chelsea instead.
The 26-year-old has had difficulty making an impression at Stamford Bridge and is rumored to be thinking about going on loan to Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Brighton during the upcoming transfer window.
The Seagulls though are unlikely to make another move for the former Leicester man as they have already agreed to sign Gomez from Inter Miami for around £12m.
The versatile 21-year-old’s contract was reportedly reached last summer, and as soon as the January transfer market begins, the necessary procedures will be finished.
After joining Miami from Club Libertad Asunción in 2023, Gomez has made an impact in the MLS with Lionel Messi, tallying seven goals and seven assists in 40 games.
In addition, he has made nine appearances for Paraguay, playing a key part in their 2-1 victory against Argentina in Asunción last night in their World Cup qualifying match. Julio Enciso of Brighton also played against the World Cup champions.
The expected arrival of Gomez will be an interesting addition for Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler as sixth placed Seagulls look to maintain their push for Europe.
He will add to the existing options of Carlos Baleba, Jack Hinshelwood, fit-again Matt O’Riley, Yasin Ayari, Mats Wieffer, James Milner and Jakub Moder.
Brighton are next in Premier League action after the international break at Chelsea ion November 23. They then have seven further matches before the transfer window opens in January.
