The ambitious undertaking will transform the already iconic arena into a state-of-the-art facility capable of accommodating up to 45,202 spectators, nearly doubling its current capacity.
The expansion, slated to begin later in 2025, is expected to include the addition of new upper tiers, retractable seating configurations, enhanced luxury suites, and multi-purpose features that will allow the venue to host not only hockey games but also major concerts, international sporting events, and cultural festivals.

The project, a collaboration between the City of Edmonton, Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG), and private investors, underscores Edmonton’s growing profile as a major hub for sports and entertainment in North America. Rogers Place, which originally opened in 2016 with a capacity of just over 18,500 for hockey, has long been praised for its modern design and cutting-edge amenities.
