Former NFL tight end Kevin Ware Jr. has pleaded guilty in connection with the 2021 murder of his girlfriend, Taylor Pomaski, and has reportedly agreed to a 30-year prison sentence.
Pomaski, 29, was reported missing in April 2021 after a house party at Ware’s residence in Texas. Her remains were discovered months later in December 2021, prompting a high-profile investigation that eventually led authorities to charge Ware with murder and tampering with evidence.
According to multiple reports, including from local and national outlets, Ware reached a plea deal with prosecutors to avoid trial. By pleading guilty, the 43-year-old former football player will serve three decades behind bars, bringing a measure of closure to Pomaski’s family and loved ones.
Ware, who played briefly in the NFL for the Washington Football Team and San Francisco 49ers, had a troubled post-football life, facing multiple legal issues, including drug and weapons charges, prior to his arrest in Pomaski’s case.
Pomaski’s disappearance and death drew national attention, with investigators describing the circumstances as suspicious early on. Her family and friends had long called for justice, and today’s resolution marks a significant moment in the long-running case.
Ware is expected to be formally sentenced in court in the coming days.
