Tragedy has struck the Las Vegas community after a massive overnight fire engulfed the Outback Restaurant located inside the M Resort, completely destroying the popular dining venue and claiming the lives of several local high school athletes who were dining there after a championship event.
According to the Clark County Fire Department, the blaze broke out around 10:18 p.m. Saturday night while the restaurant was at near-capacity following a celebratory gathering for teams participating in the regional Nevada High School Basketball Showcase. The fire escalated rapidly, spreading through the dining room and into the casino’s south wing.
Despite emergency crews arriving within minutes, the fire was already out of control. Several patrons were trapped inside, and first responders were forced to break through exterior glass and kitchen areas in desperate rescue efforts.
