It’s not been very common at all for Sheffield Wednesday to have so many exciting players in their ranks. But since Danny Rohl’s arrival in 2023, he’s managed to get the Owls’ young stars up and firing.
Many youth players are now hoping to establish themselves at Sheffield Wednesday, and some have already done so.
One is Bailey Cadamarteri, who is presently on loan at Lincoln City gaining some crucial experience. Another is Pierce Charles, who is currently receiving a lot of attention.
Three Premier League clubs have reportedly been keeping an eye on Charles in the lead-up to the January transfer window.
One of the teams can now be identified by Sheffield Wednesday News.
Wednesday in Sheffield According to news reports, one of the teams that has checked on 19-year-old Charles this season is Premier League champions Liverpool.
According to reports, Liverpool was “impressed” with what they saw when they watched Charles play for Northern Ireland earlier this season.
Anthony Patterson of Sunderland is another option for the Reds, who are searching the EFL for a youthful and dynamic number two goalkeeper.
Charles would be considered a homegrown player and would also be reasonably priced for Liverpool.
Charles is very well-regarded by Rohl and by Owls fans alike. He’s a good shot-stopper but even more impressive with the ball at his feet, making him an ideal goalkeeper for a lot of modern teams.
Speaking earlier in the season, Rohl identified Charles could be the ‘future’ of Sheffield Wednesday, along with teammates Di’Shon Bernard and Gabriel Otegbayo.
“We have Di’Shon Bernard, Pierce Charles, and Gabriel Otegbayo… they could be the future for this club,” the Owls manager stated. This is also the result of my joining during the last year.
Charles is attracting more attention before January, therefore Rohl might be tempted to give the young player more playing time on Wednesday to demonstrate his inclusion in the starting lineup.
In order to give him some first-team experience and prevent teams like Liverpool from making a move, Wednesday may want to send him out on loan in January.
