Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Valentín Barco could find himself playing in a new position in the coming months at Sevilla.
According to Estadio Deportivo, manager García Pimienta has stated that the 20-year-old may be tried out for new roles in the future.
After being given permission to temporarily leave Brighton in order to establish himself in Spain and gain playing time that would help him grow, Barco is spending the season on loan at Sevilla.
With five appearances totaling 250 minutes thus far and a lot of bad press surrounding them, life at Sevilla has not been simple thus far.
This month, a number of publications have brought attention to his difficulties, including Brighton’s refusal to allow him leave when he moved to Spain.
He was seen to be making extra efforts to get back on track, while another today suggested that he might be given the ideal chance to make his case and that a change in status was possible.
Given that he has played left back for the bulk of his career, it is thought that the player may be more adept going forward than defensively.
In his news conference today, García Pimienta has now
addressed the issue and acknowledged that a change in position is imminent.
