In an attempt to stave off relegation from the Championship, Millwall’s opponents Plymouth Argyle have decided to fire their manager.
The Pilgrims have changed managers three times this season, matching the moves made by the Blues and Sunderland. After Plymouth’s Easter Monday 1-0 loss to Bristol City, the organisation decided to terminate Foster’s brief tenure.
“Ian was hired through a thorough and extensive recruitment process and his coaching credentials really stood out when making the appointment,” chairman Simon Hallett said in a statement posted on the club’s official website.
However, we must weigh short-term judgements against long-term stability, and we have given Ian as much time as possible to assess if the outcomes could be better.
Sadly, that hasn’t happened, and we believe that this is the ideal time to make a change in order to increase our chances of surviving.
“The Green Army has been amazing as always in the past few weeks, and as we head into the last few weeks of the campaign with Neil and Nance leading the charge, we need you all to keep up the great work.
“Together, we can accomplish the goals we set out to accomplish at the beginning of the season.”
The first team’s operations will be managed by Neil Dewsnip throughout the duration of the season. The position held by the Director of Football was vacant as the team searched for Steven Schumacher’s replacement.
