The 22-year-old defender, who played a big part in the Iron’s promotion from National League South, has joined the Bees on a two-year contract.
In a post on social media, Grimwood said: ‘Where do I start, firstly what a club.
As soon as I joined I was welcomed like I had been there years, @HarropAngelo took a risk with me and massive thanks to him and has improved me massively as a player.
‘All the players I have played with this year, you have all been ledge……’
Grimwood also told the Barnet website: “I run through brick walls for my players, gaffer and the club.
“I enjoy the art of defending; that’s what I do best.
“It’s a big challenge stepping up but I think I’m ready to do it; I can’t wait to get started.
“It’s a proud moment for myself and my family.”
Grimwood has become Barnet boss Dean Brennan’s fourth signing of the summer.
The centre-back previously spent six seasons at AFC Sudbury before joining Braintree.
He played 90 minutes in 45 out of 46 of their league games, this season as they claimed a magnificent promotion, under Angelo Harrop.
Barnet FC manager Brennan told the club’s website: “Joe is a really good one-on-one defender.
“He had a fantastic season at Braintree, reads danger really well and wants to defend.
“He’s strong and aggressive; he’s a beast!”
