Swindon Town are casting their eyes over Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Max Harris in training, as per a report by GloucestershireLive.
Swindon Town are weighing up a potential move for the stopper this summer. They are preparing for another year in League Two and have turned to former Lincoln City boss Mark Kennedy as their new boss.
Although Harris, 24, still has one year left on his Cheltenham Town contract, he has been granted permission to leave the Gloucestershire club during this transfer window after being placed on the transfer list. Along with Port Vale, Carlisle United, and Fleetwood Town, they were demoted from League One in the previous season.
According to GloucestershireLive’s most recent report on the player’s status, the Robins have put him on trial in anticipation of making a move to sign him. In the previous campaign, they ended up 12 points above the drop zone and ranked 19th in the table.
Swindon Town wants a goalie
Harris might be seen by Swindon Town as a way to strengthen their goalkeeping staff.
They didn’t perform well the previous term, so they plan to compete at a greater level the next one.
Harris has been on the books at Cheltenham Town since 2020 but is poised to leave in the near future.
He has made four appearances for the Robins thus far, mostly as a backup. He has also been loaned out to gain experience to Cinderford Town, Redditch United, Weston-super-Mare, and Bath City.
The goalie began his career at Hereford before spending three years (2017–2020) at Oxford United.
The man from Cheltenham Town, what next?
During his training stint, he will be looking to make an impression on Swindon Town in order to maybe gain a move.
Over the next few weeks, Kennedy will try to instill his own personality in the team he has just taken over.
To bolster their ranks, the Wiltshire team has already ventured into the market to acquire Will Wright, Ryan Delaney, Rosaire Longelo, Ollie Clarke, Harry Smith, and Tunmise Sobowale.
On August 9, the Robins will go to Chesterfield, the National League champions, on the road.
