In August of last year, Hussain Al Saeed acquired a majority stake of 55% in the club. Wael Al Qadi, who owns 40.5% of the club, and Samer Al Qadi, who owns 4.5%, have now agreed to sell their interests to him.
According to a Bristol Rovers representative, Mr. Hussain Al Saeed will supply all funds to support the club’s continued operations and growth over the 18-month acquisition period. Up until this point, Mr. Wael Al Qadi will continue to serve as club president.
Wael Al Qadi stated that he will always “treasure the love and support from everyone at BS7” and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with “so many devoted people.”
“To all the players, managers, and staff, both current and former,” he continued. I genuinely adore and admire each and every one of you since you gave up everything and valiantly faced every hardship.
Together, we triumphed and lost, and we went through two incredible promotions that will always be remembered in the club’s history.
“To my beloved Gasheads: you are the most devoted, passionate, and loving supporters of this football team in all of English football. I appreciate you letting my family and I join the club and all of the amazing memories we made there.
Together, we went through many highs and lows, and I know you thought I was all in, doing what was best for you and the Club. Since I am now one of you and will always be a Gashead, this is never a farewell. I’ll see you on the patios!
“And finally, as I walk into the sunset, some very last words from me: ‘Good night Irene…'”
Hussain Al Saeed commented: “I want to personally thank Wael and Samer for their contributions and for helping to ease the transition during this takeover. Their support has been invaluable throughout and they will always be a part of the Bristol Rovers family.
“I am excited and proud to lead the Club into a bright future, building on top of the strong foundations that have been established.”
Bristol Rovers Football Club said it would like to express its gratitude to Wael and Samer Al Qadi for their contributions during their time as shareholders.
The move will see the Al Qadi family step away from Bristol Rovers eight years after they first bought in to the club in 2016.
He has managed both League One promotion and relegation throughout his tenure.
Currently managed by Matt Taylor, the team is in 14th place in the league standings and has advanced to the FA Cup’s second round for 2024–2025.
