In NBA Legend Steve Nash Donates $21 Million to Alma Mater for Major Renovation Project
Phoenix, AZ — In a remarkable act of generosity, former Phoenix Suns star and two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash has donated $21 million to his alma mater, Santa Clara University, to support a major renovation of the school’s athletics and training facilities.
Nash, who rose to fame during his stellar NBA career with the Suns, Mavericks, and Lakers, credits much of his early development to his time at Santa Clara. The donation marks one of the largest single gifts ever made to the university’s athletic department.
“This university shaped me both as an athlete and as a person,” Nash said in a statement released this morning. “I want future generations of student-athletes to have access to world-class resources that empower them to chase their dreams — on and off the court.”
The renovation plans reportedly include upgraded basketball courts, expanded training and wellness centers, and enhanced facilities for all student-athletes. University officials say the project will break ground later this year
