HEARTBREAKING NEWS: Devastating fire Outback Burn down the Biggest Restaurant in Grace Christian And Kill Some Local Player……

Tragedy struck the Grace Christian School community last night when a catastrophic fire engulfed and completely destroyed the area’s largest and most popular restaurant, Outback Grill, claiming the lives of several local high school athletes and injuring others.

The fire broke out around 9:42 p.m. during what was described as a post-season celebration dinner for members of the Grace Christian basketball team following their recent appearance in the 4A Roundball Tournament. Within minutes, flames tore through the wooden structure of the Outback Grill, located near Lake Otis Parkway, trapping dozens of patrons inside.

Despite a rapid response by Anchorage Fire Department crews, the blaze quickly escalated to a four-alarm fire, with responders battling for over three hours to bring it under control. By the time firefighters gained full access to the site, the building had been reduced to charred debris.

💔 Lives Lost and Community Mourning

Officials have confirmed the deaths of four individuals, including two student-athletes from Grace Christian, whose names are being withheld pending family notification. At least nine others were hospitalized, three of whom remain in critical condition at Providence Alaska Medical Center.

Anchorage Fire Marshal David Greer stated during a press briefing early this morning:

“This is one of the most tragic incidents we’ve seen in recent memory. The victims were young, full of promise, and part of a tight-knit school and athletic community. Our thoughts are with all the families affected.”

🔍 Cause of the Fire Under Investigation

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, early reports suggest a possible kitchen gas line malfunction may have sparked the initial flames. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud pop or small explosion from the kitchen area moments before the fire spread rapidly through the dining area.

Survivors described scenes of panic and chaos as smoke filled the room and flames overtook exits. “People were screaming and trying to get out through windows,” said one witness. “The staff were heroic in trying to help everyone.”

🕯️ School and City React

Grace Christian School has canceled all classes and athletic activities for the week. A vigil will be held on campus tonight at 7:00 p.m., with grief counselors on-site for students and faculty.

Principal Laura Simmons issued an emotional statement this morning:

“We are heartbroken. These were not just students — they were our sons, brothers, teammates, and friends. Our entire school is grieving.”

Mayor Lena Durham also declared a citywide moment of silence and pledged support for the victims’ families, praising the firefighters and first responders for their bravery.

📢 Call for Support

A community relief fund has been launched through the Alaska Sports Foundation, aiming to support the families of those lost and injured in the fire. Donations are already pouring in from across the state and beyond, a testament to the tight bond of Alaska’s athletic and faith communities.
